A 12-year-old third-grade madrasa student has been gang-raped in a remote village in Sherpur. The incident took place at Panjarbhanga Ulakanda village in Dhala union of Sadar upazila on Thursday (July 15) night. The raped child is the daughter of a local impoverished peasant family.
The accused in the rape are Forkan Ali, son of Tamish Ali of the same village, and Shaheen Mia, son of Harej Ali, SSC examinee. The raped child is Forkan's distant niece and Shahin's niece. The accused have been absconding since the incident.
It is learned that Forkan and Shaheen had been harassing the child for some time. On Thursday (July 15) at around 9:30 pm, the child went to fetch water from a tubewell near his house. Forkan and Shahin, who were already lying in wait at that time, tied the child's face with a towel and took him to a paddy field next to the house. There she was raped in turn and fled, threatening not to tell anyone.
Later, the raped child lost his way in the dark when he was ill and took shelter in the barn of Imran Miah, a farmer from the nearby village of Chander Nagar. On the same night, farmer Imran entered his barn and found the body of the raped child in a muddy condition and brought the child to his parents' house. Later the child tells his father all the facts. The child's father has demanded immediate arrest of the rapists and proper justice.
The victim was rescued and sent to District Sadar Hospital for medical examination.
