Bamboo is being used in the construction of roads

Songbad Weekly 24 English:

Excavation work has recently started for ferry service at Mantala-Sitarampur Ghat in Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria. In view of this, roads are being constructed with bamboo for the construction of ferries on both sides. This has caused extreme anger in the minds of the people.

Locals said the initiative to set up the Montala-Sitarampur ferry was taken with the sincere efforts of local MP Ebadul Karim Bulbul MP to travel to the district headquarters. But they fear that the road built with bamboo will break the ferry road in a few days.

Rafiq Mia and Sohan, pedestrians, said the road would be demolished in a couple of months. We want things to get better. However, I have never seen the use of bamboo like this before.

Mohammad Mohsin, an assistant engineer at BIWTA, said RCC could not, or could not, be dumped on riverbanks.

He said that all the ferry ghats of BIWTA including Mawa and Chandpur have been constructed on the banks of the river with sand.

The engineer said that using bamboo in soft soils can take extra load. That is, it works like a rod. Rods and sand cannot be used in soft soils. In this way the works of river bank ferries are completed all over the country.

Nabinagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ekramul Siddique told reporters, "I have come to know about the matter." The incident will be investigated after talking to the concerned officials.
