The second phase of Union Parishad (UP) elections will be held on November 11. At this stage, voting will be held in 646 UPs of the country. Wednesday (September 29) after the meeting of the Election Commission Secretary. Humayun Kabir Khandaker announced the schedule of the election.
According to the announced schedule, the last date for submission of nomination papers for the second phase of Union Parishad elections is October 16, selection of nomination papers is October 20, appeal against the decision of selection is October 21 to 23, appeal disposal is October 24 and 25, withdrawal of candidature is October 26, allotment of symbols is October 26 and voting. November 11.
Electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be used in 20 of the 647 UPs, the EC secretary said.
Earlier in the morning, a commission meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda.
Responding to a question from reporters, the EC secretary said, "We are working on the third phase of union council elections." The next meeting of the commission will be held next week. The meeting may decide on the schedule for the third phase of UP elections.
He said in response to another question that the votes of all the Union Parishads of the country would be held by December. However, he did not comment on the steps to be taken to complete the union council elections
