Songbad Weekly 24 English:
Information of Assignment Syndicate has been found in various educational institutions of Muladi Upazila of Barisal. Many parents are complaining about this. Again many are not doing so because they are not aware of whether there is any fee fixed by the government for his assignment.
In November last year, the Department of Secondary and Higher Education (Maushi) warned all educational institutions that no fee could be charged for taking assignments to assess students' learning outcomes. The Department of Secondary and Higher Education also said that legal action would be taken against the accused educational institution if the parents received specific complaints in this regard.
At this time Mausi Director (Secondary) said. Belal said that no institution can charge any fee for giving and submitting assignments to students. There are various conventional sectors of the organization for the collection of fees.
Parents are thus lost in the corona infection. In the financial crisis, many parents are struggling to pay their tuition fees regularly. If the organization collects the fee in the name of assignment, it is unfair. In no way will such an institution be exempted.
Educational institutions have been closed since March 16 last year due to corona virus infection. This holiday is still in force. In this situation, Mausi has instructed the students to make assignments to make up for the loss of educational activities. According to him, students will collect and submit assignment topics from the institution once a week. Recently, the Ministry of Education issued a notice regarding assignment of SSC and HSC candidates. But there are allegations that some educational institutions in Muladi Upazila are taking this as an opportunity to collect extra money.
Asking the students of different institutions about this, it is known that in some schools money is not taken for assignment. However, most of the secondary schools are taking money for assignments. Some schools have started business regularly and are charging BDT 60 per subject from 6th to 10th class and BDT 150 per subject from SSC candidates. Many students are dropping out of assignment activities due to the inability to raise money due to an epidemic. Teachers are threatening to expel their children from school and throw them out of school if parents protest. It is not our intention to tarnish the image of any school with electricity messages. The allegation is not against unscrupulous teachers and schools.
Let's try to make an calculation. 150 TK is being taken from SSC candidates per subject. The school authorities are giving them 7 A4 size papers. The market price of 7 papers is 7 tk, 3 tk for a question and 3 tk for a cover page. Then the total cost stood at 13 tk. Besides, I took another 5 taka for other expenses i.e. 18 taka. The rest is 150-18= 132 tk. If the total number of students in that class is 60, the remaining money per subject is 132 × 70 = 9240 tk. Where is this 9240 tk going? This question may come to everyone's mind. This money is basically going into the pockets of the teaching staff. This is only for one subject assignment, so think about how much money is taken for the whole subject.
If you ask the headmaster of some of the schools from which money is being taken for assignment, avoid the main point in this regard. The only question for the parents is how long the teaching staff will not cut the parents' pockets like this.
